Modern Makrout Contest
This competition is an opportunity for all those with a passion for cooking to showcase their skills and share their love of Algerian pastry.
A jury of gastronomy professionals will select the best creations, rewarding originality, taste and aesthetics.

Makrout reinvents itself!
Come along to the modern Makrout competition, where Algeria’s most creative pastry chefs will be pushing back the boundaries of tradition. Their mission: to surprise you with innovative recipes and stunning presentations.
On Monday 6 January 2025, in the central pavilion of SAFEX in Algiers, they will compete to win the title of best creator of modern Makrout. An expert panel of renowned pastry chefs and discerning gourmets will judge the candidates on the originality of their recipes, the quality of their flavours and the aesthetics of their creations.
